    Published on

A 26-year-old seamstress, Uriana Scott, has been granted bail set at $80,000 as she faces charges in an alleged fraud case. Scott, residing at Lot 88 David Rose Street, Bagotville, West Bank Demerara, was arrested on February 4, 2025, by Detective Constable Joseph. She was formally charged on February 11 with obtaining money by false pretence, violating Section 194 of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01.

During her appearance before Magistrate Rondel Weever at the Wales Magistrate’s Court, Scott pleaded not guilty to the charge. The allegations relate to a computer-related fraud incident involving Marvin Peters, which reportedly took place on February 2, 2025, in Patentia, West Bank Demerara.

Following the police investigation, Scott was arrested and subsequently brought to court. The case is set to be adjourned until March 5, 2025, at which time statements are anticipated to be filed and a fixture date established.
