The Dental Council of Guyana (DCG) has taken a firm stance against unlicensed and illegal dental practices operating across the nation. In an official announcement dated February 12, 2025, the DCG has called for the immediate halt of all operations by these unauthorized entities, highlighting the serious risks they pose to public health and safety.
In the notice, the DCG stresses that such practices are in direct violation of Guyanese dental regulations, lacking the essential oversight and accountability necessary for protecting patient welfare. Unlicensed practitioners are instructed to close their facilities at once and must refrain from offering any dental services until they secure the required licenses and approvals from the appropriate authorities.
Those who fail to adhere to this directive will face swift legal repercussions, including prosecution to the fullest extent of the law, confiscation of equipment and materials utilized in illegal practices, along with potential fines and penalties.
The DCG has joined forces with the Guyana Police Force to ensure the health and safety of all citizens in Guyana. They reaffirmed that only licensed and qualified dental professionals are permitted to deliver dental care in the country, in compliance with the Dental Registration Act and other pertinent legislation.
“This serves as a final warning,” the DCG declared, emphasizing that compliance is obligatory and that enforcement actions will be enacted without further notice.
