Two young labourers, both 18 years old, were granted bail this week after appearing before the court on separate larceny charges in unrelated incidents.
The first accused, Kevin James of Wismar, Linden, was charged with simple larceny following allegations that he stole a quantity of construction materials from a local hardware store earlier this month. James appeared before the Linden Magistrate’s Court, where he pleaded not guilty to the charge. The magistrate granted him bail in the sum of $80,000 and ordered him to return to court on June 10, 2025.
In a separate case, Akeem Roberts of Amelia’s Ward, Linden, faced a charge of larceny after being accused of stealing a neighbor’s motorcycle. Roberts also pleaded not guilty and was granted bail set at $100,000. He is expected to make his next court appearance on June 15, 2025.
Both cases have drawn attention to the prevalence of petty theft in the Linden area, with community leaders urging young people to seek positive opportunities and avoid criminal activity. The legal proceedings for both accused are ongoing, and the matters will be closely watched as they progress through the courts.
