Months Later, Still No Charges in St Cuthbert’s Crash Triple Fatality

    Published on

Months after a devastating collision on the access trail to St Cuthbert’s Mission claimed three lives, families of the victims are still waiting for justice, as no charges have been filed against those involved in the crash.

The tragic accident occurred on November 30, 2024, when two vehicles traveling in opposite directions collided head-on along the remote trail. The victims-Olive Andrews, her daughter Athina Andrews, and seven-year-old granddaughter Emma Andrews-were pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers survived the crash with minor injuries and were treated at the Diamond Hospital before being discharged.

Since the incident, the families of the deceased have expressed deep dissatisfaction with the pace and handling of the investigation. Penelope Dundas, a relative of the victims, voiced her frustration, stating that the drivers were never arrested and that the police have provided little information regarding the progress of the case.

Regional Police Division 4 ‘C’ Commander, Senior Superintendent Ewart Wray, confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing. He explained that the police are still gathering information and that the case file has not yet been submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), who will ultimately decide whether charges are to be laid.

The lack of charges and the prolonged investigation have left the St Cuthbert’s Mission community in a state of shock and mourning, with many calling for greater transparency and swifter action from authorities. As the months pass, the families continue to seek answers and accountability for the loss of their loved ones.

The case remains open, with police urging anyone with additional information to come forward as the investigation proceeds. The community and the victims’ families await further developments, hoping for closure and justice in the wake of the tragedy.
