Police have launched an investigation after the decomposed body of an unidentified man was discovered early Sunday morning along the Hope Seawalls on the East Coast of Demerara.
According to authorities, the grim find was made around 6:45 a.m. when the motionless body was spotted lying face down among the rocks at the shoreline. The man was dressed in black knee-length pants and a brown long-sleeved shirt, with a distinctive tattoo visible on his right hand. Due to the advanced state of decomposition, investigators were unable to immediately determine any visible signs of violence.
Forensic technicians processed the scene, documenting evidence before the remains were transported to the Memorial Funeral Parlor, where the body is being held pending identification and a post-mortem examination.
Police have questioned several individuals in the area, but so far, no useful information has emerged regarding the man’s identity or the circumstances leading to his death. The discovery has raised concerns in the community, especially as it follows a similar incident earlier this year when another body was found in the same general vicinity.
As the investigation continues, authorities are appealing to the public for any information that might assist in identifying the deceased or shedding light on the events that led to this latest tragedy at the Hope Seawalls.
