An Airy Hall, Essequibo businessman is facing legal action after being charged with unlawful possession of ammunition.
Deodnauth Lall, 23, appeared before Magistrate Teriq Mohamed at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court, where he was formally charged under Section 16 (2) (a) of the Firearm Act Chapter 16:05. The charge follows his arrest on April 10, when authorities reportedly discovered several rounds of illegal ammunition in his possession.
Lall pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail set at $100,000. The case has been adjourned to May 20, 2025, when further proceedings are expected to take place.
The incident has raised concerns in the Airy Hall community about the prevalence of illegal firearms and ammunition. Law enforcement officials have reiterated their commitment to tackling gun-related offenses and ensuring public safety.
