Cricket West Indies President Dr. Kishore Shallow Contemplates Re-election

Dr. Kishore Shallow, the current President of Cricket West Indies (CWI), is in a state of uncertainty regarding his potential re-election during the upcoming elections scheduled for March. This uncertainty arises as regional cricket boards gear up to appoint a new head of the CWI board at their annual general meeting.

In Dr. Shallow’s own words, “When the time is right, I will make that decision. I’m considering it, and I’m open to serving another term. This is something I will obviously decide after consulting with the other directors. If there is support and a desire for me to continue, then I’m committed.â€

As an active politician from St. Vincent, Dr. Shallow reflects on his tenure, highlighting significant reforms in the governance of regional cricket as a notable achievement. He believes these changes will enhance stakeholder confidence in CWI, stating, “It’s a great accomplishment. We must remain dedicated to evolving in all aspects; governance reform is just one area, but it’s certainly promising and represents great progress.â€

Addressing recent divisions within the board, particularly between the Guyana Cricket Board and the Barbados Cricket Board, Dr. Shallow expressed optimism about unity. He emphasized the importance of collaboration, noting, “I’m happy that both BCA and GCB representatives participated in our discussions. We engaged in productive conversations about governance and cricket-related matters, which is a positive development for the entire board.â€

During a recent special meeting, several reforms were proposed and approved, including a new term limit for the positions of President and Vice-President, set at a maximum of three terms of three years each. Additionally, the term length for these positions was extended from two years to three years.
