Savory Confident as Harpy Eagles Face Hurricanes in West Indies Championship Clash

    Published on

The Guyana Harpy Eagles (GHE) are set to take on the Leeward Islands Hurricanes today in a highly anticipated Round 6 match of the West Indies Championship 2025. The game, scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM at Warner Park, St. Kitts, comes as the Harpy Eagles aim to consolidate their position at the top of the points table.

With 102.6 points after five rounds, the Harpy Eagles lead the standings, narrowly ahead of Trinidad and Tobago Red Force with 101 points. Despite their strong form this season, the Harpy Eagles face a challenging opponent in the Hurricanes, who defeated them by a massive 273 runs at this very venue last year.

Speaking ahead of the match, GHE Vice-Captain Kemol Savory expressed optimism about his team’s readiness. “The team is in a good space,” Savory said. “The results are speaking for themselves, and we’re leading on the board. Everyone is prepared and looking forward to this game.”

Savory emphasized a disciplined approach for the four-day match, focusing on patience and playing session by session. “It’s about sticking to our game plan and being consistent,” he explained.

When asked about his personal goals for the season, Savory highlighted his desire for team success over individual accolades. “My goal is for us to win the championship again for the third time. Nothing less will do,” he stated. Winning this title would be a significant achievement for both the team and their supporters in Guyana.

The Harpy Eagles’ clash with the Hurricanes is one of four matches kicking off today in Round 6 of the tournament. Other fixtures include Trinidad and Tobago Red Force versus Jamaica Scorpions at Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Windward Islands Volcanoes against Barbados Pride at Daren Sammy Stadium, and West Indies Academy facing Combined Campuses and Colleges at Sir Frank Worrell Memorial Ground.

As the Harpy Eagles take to the field, fans will be eager to see if they can maintain their momentum and edge closer to securing another championship title.
