    A group of talented athletes and coaches from Guyana have embarked on a journey to India, where they will participate in a prestigious sports scholarship program at Jain University in Bangalore. This initiative is part of the Guyana Online Academy of Learning (GOAL) program, a government-led effort to enhance athletic and coaching capabilities across various sports disciplines.

    Background on the Scholarship

    The scholarship program is designed to provide Guyanese athletes and coaches with access to high-performance training environments and modern coaching methodologies. Disciplines covered include badminton, basketball, cricket, golf, swimming, and table tennis. This comprehensive approach aims to develop a nucleus of skilled athletes and coaches capable of competing at the highest international levels.

    Notable Participants

    Among the recipients of the scholarship are notable athletes and coaches such as Nigel Bryan and Krystian Sahadeo from table tennis, Frank Joseph and Nathan Waddell from badminton, Zeynul Ramsammy from cricket, and Paul Mahaica Jr. from swimming. Coaches like Akili Haynes (badminton), Quasen Nedd (cricket), and Warren Wilson (swimming) are also part of the delegation.

    Training and Development

    During their stay at Jain University, participants will engage in intensive training sessions, workshops, and coaching enrichment programs.
