Adriana, a Grade Six pupil of Parika Salem Primary School, was laid to rest at the Vergenoegen Cemetery following an emotional funeral service at the Vergenoegen tarmac. The day began with a viewing at Sandy’s Funeral Home in Pouderoyen, where mourners—many dressed in red to symbolize the demand for justice—paid their respects to the young girl remembered for her warmth, intellect, and promise.

Her life was cut short nearly two months ago when she was found dead in the swimming pool of the Double Day Hotel in Tuschen on April 24. The circumstances surrounding her death have ignited a national outcry, uniting thousands both in Guyana and across the diaspora in grief and protest. Chants of “Justice for Adriana!” echoed throughout the funeral procession, reflecting the deep pain and frustration felt by family, friends, and supporters.
