Cricket fans across Berbice are eagerly anticipating a thrilling contest this Sunday as Blairmont and Port Mourant prepare to face off for the prestigious Leslie Amsterdam Trophy. The much-anticipated final promises high drama and fierce competition as two of the region’s most storied clubs vie for supremacy.

Both teams have impressed throughout the tournament, with Blairmont displaying a potent mix of experienced campaigners and emerging talent, while Port Mourant has built its campaign on disciplined bowling and aggressive batting. Their paths to the final have been marked by dominant performances, setting the stage for an electrifying encounter.

The Leslie Amsterdam Trophy, named in honour of the legendary Berbice cricket administrator and promoter, has long been a symbol of cricketing excellence in the region. This year’s edition has drawn large crowds and renewed enthusiasm for the sport, with local supporters turning out in force to back their teams.

Blairmont’s captain, Ravi Singh, expressed confidence ahead of the clash, noting the team’s strong form and unity. “We’ve worked hard all season for this moment. The boys are focused and ready to give their best for the club and our supporters,” Singh said.

Port Mourant’s skipper, Imran Hussain, echoed the sentiment, highlighting his team’s determination to bring the trophy home. “We respect Blairmont, but we’re coming out strong. Our fans deserve a win, and we’re ready to fight for every run and wicket,” Hussain stated.

The final will be played at the historic Port Mourant Community Centre Ground, with first ball scheduled for 10:00 am. Organisers have promised a festive atmosphere, with food, music, and family activities planned alongside the cricketing action.

As anticipation builds, all eyes will be on Berbice this Sunday to see which side will lift the Leslie Amsterdam Trophy and claim bragging rights as the region’s top cricket club.
