    Published on

In a move aimed at promoting inclusivity and supporting the development of adaptive sports, the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has donated a substantial quantity of cricket equipment to the Guyana Blind Cricket Association. The handover ceremony took place on Wednesday at the GCB’s headquarters, where representatives from both organizations gathered to mark the occasion.

The donation includes specialized bats, balls, protective gear, and other essential equipment designed specifically for visually impaired players. This initiative is part of the GCB’s ongoing commitment to making cricket accessible to all Guyanese, regardless of physical ability.

President of the Guyana Blind Cricket Association, along with several team members, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support, noting that the new equipment will significantly enhance their training sessions and competitive matches. “This gesture from the GCB not only provides us with the tools we need but also sends a powerful message about inclusion and equal opportunity in sports,” said one of the association’s representatives.

GCB officials highlighted the importance of nurturing talent at every level and reaffirmed their dedication to supporting adaptive cricket programs. They emphasized that cricket is a unifying force in Guyana, capable of bringing together people from all walks of life.

The partnership between the GCB and the Blind Cricket Association is expected to strengthen further, with plans already underway for coaching clinics, friendly matches, and greater integration of adaptive cricket into the national sporting calendar.

This donation marks a significant step forward in empowering visually impaired athletes and ensuring that the spirit of cricket continues to thrive across every community in Guyana.
