Providence Barber Loses Two Vehicles to Arson

    Published on

Providence, Guyana – A barber from Providence, East Bank Demerara, is reeling from a devastating act of arson that destroyed two of his vehicles early Sunday morning. The incident has left Victor Singh, a well-known figure in the community, grappling with significant losses as police launch an investigation into the crime.

According to reports, CCTV footage captured a lone individual exiting a black tinted vehicle near Singh’s home. The suspect was seen lighting an object and throwing it under one of Singh’s parked vehicles, which immediately caught fire. The flames quickly spread to the second vehicle, engulfing both in a fiery blaze. The perpetrator fled the scene before authorities arrived.

Singh, who has been a barber for prominent businessmen Azurddin and Nazar Mohammed for over two decades, expressed shock and disbelief at the attack. “I have no idea why someone would target me like this,” he said, noting that he has no known enemies and has maintained good relations within the community.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene but were unable to save the vehicles, which were completely destroyed by the time the blaze was extinguished. The police are reviewing the CCTV footage and are appealing to members of the public for information that could lead to identifying the suspect or uncovering a motive behind the arson.

The incident has sparked concerns about security in residential areas and the prevalence of targeted attacks. Residents have called for increased surveillance and police patrols to deter such crimes in Providence and its surrounding communities.

As investigations continue, Singh is left to assess his losses and determine his next steps. The destruction of his vehicles represents not only a financial setback but also a blow to his livelihood as he relies on them for transportation to work and other daily activities.

This act of arson underscores the need for vigilance and community cooperation in addressing crime while ensuring justice for victims like Singh.
