    President Dr. Irfaan Ali Welcomes New Non-Resident Ambassador from Spain

    During an official ceremony held at the Office of the President, President Dr. Irfaan Ali received the Letters of Credence from Maria Cristina Perez Gutiérrez, the newly appointed Non-Resident Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Guyana.

    Following the presentation of her credentials, Ambassador Perez Gutiérrez, who operates from Trinidad and Tobago, engaged in brief discussions with President Ali. They focused on strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in key areas such as agriculture and food security, oil and gas, and trade expansion.

    President Ali emphasized the significance of enhancing the partnership between Guyana and Spain, advocating for collaborative initiatives that would contribute to both economic and social development.

    The appointment of Ambassador Perez Gutiérrez reflects a shared commitment from both nations to deepen diplomatic ties and explore new avenues for mutual benefit. Historically, Guyana and Spain have maintained strong diplomatic relations, with Spain actively supporting sustainable development initiatives across Latin America and the Caribbean.
