**MODEC Launches Inaugural Onshore Trainee Program for Guyanese Nationals**

The MODEC team has announced the launch of its first Onshore Trainee Program, designed to equip Guyanese nationals with essential technical and non-technical skills in the oil and gas sector. This initiative marks a significant step towards the development of local talent in the industry.

The program will include eight university graduates participating in a comprehensive 20-month training regimen, structured in two phases. The first phase will take place in Brazil, followed by a concluding phase in Singapore. The trainees are expected to leave Guyana within the next few weeks. During their stay in Brazil, they will engage in a structured development plan that encompasses workshops on technical and soft skills, hands-on job training, and offshore assignments. In Singapore, the trainees will undergo at least five months of pre-operations training to gain in-depth knowledge of various phases of the UARU Project.

The launch of the Onshore Trainee Program follows the recruitment of the first cohort of university interns. This 18-month Internship Program, which commenced in December 2024, has provided opportunities for three additional Guyanese nationals within the Supply Chain, Human Resources, and Compliance departments. The interns will receive ongoing mentorship throughout their tenure at MODEC, with the potential for permanent employment upon successful completion of their internships.

MODEC emphasizes that the launch of these programs is a significant milestone in its commitment to fostering local talent and expertise within Guyana’s oil and gas sector. The company remains dedicated to supporting initiatives that contribute to the professional and academic growth of Guyanese nationals.

With over 55 years of experience in providing floating offshore solutions for the oil and gas industry, MODEC was founded in Japan and operates in more than 15 countries. Globally, MODEC has delivered 54 floating unit projects and has three units currently under construction, consistently valuing local expertise, developing partnerships, transferring knowledge, and contributing to the economy of the host countries.
