Pompeo Returns to Guyana Energy Conference as Attendance Surges Past 7000

    Published on

With over 4000 delegates expected, the Guyana Energy Conference & Supply Chain Expo (GECSCE) is set to showcase an impressive lineup of speakers, featuring President Dr. Irfaan Ali, President of the Dominican Republic Luis Abinader, and former United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for the second consecutive year. Scheduled to take place at the Marriott Hotel from February 18th to 21st, 2025, the event anticipates a total attendance exceeding 7000, including the 4000 delegates. The conference, which began in 2022, has become a significant platform for discussing energy-related topics.

In addition to the main conference, several new initiatives will be introduced this year, as highlighted by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Guyana Energy Conference (GEC), Kiana Wilburg. “We expect to have over 7000 attendees, factoring in the public events we are introducing. An energy run/walk will kick off on February 16 at the Marriott beachfront, followed by the Conference Village on February 17. This will lead into ‘Taste of Guyana,’ which, along with the Conference Village, will be held at the Kingston Esplanade and open to the public at no charge.â€

The conference organizers are also committed to involving students in the event. Recently, Wilburg donated 50 exhibition tickets and 20 complimentary delegate passes to the University of Guyana (UG) for students and faculty. This was presented to Vice-Chancellor Professor Paloma Mohamed Martin at UG’s Turkeyen Campus. Wilburg emphasized the importance of engaging youth in discussions about Guyana’s economic transformation and the various career opportunities in the oil and gas sector, as well as other supporting industries.

Further initiatives include essay competitions aimed at empowering young Guyanese to voice their perspectives on oil and gas development, with winners to be announced during the event. Secondary school students and teachers will also be encouraged to participate in the expo in various capacities.

The GECSCE serves as a vital annual gathering for industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to examine advancements, challenges, and opportunities within the energy and supply chain sectors. It fosters meaningful connections between industry professionals, policymakers, and investors, as well as experts in the energy field. Since registration opened last year, hundreds of companies have signed up for the conference. ExxonMobil Guyana Limited returns as the Title Sponsor for the fourth year, accompanied by other notable sponsors, including HESS, CNOOC, TechnipFMC, Noble, Stena Drilling, and Expro Guyana Inc., among others. A diverse array of exhibitors is also confirmed to participate in the event.
