Guyana Sees Safe Skies: No Aircraft Incidents Reported on February 13-14

    Published on

The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) wishes to clarify the misleading information that has been circulating on social media. A recent false article alleges that His Excellency, President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali, was involved in a devastating airplane crash on February 13, 2025. The GCAA firmly states that this claim is entirely untrue. There were no aircraft accidents reported within Guyana’s borders on either February 13 or 14, and there is currently no investigation regarding any incident involving President Dr. Ali.

Minister of Public Works, Hon. Bishop Juan Edghill, who oversees the aviation sector and aircraft incident investigations as outlined in the Civil Aviation Act of 2018, expressed his concern regarding this misleading publication. He stated, “This kind of fake news is unfounded and is a deliberate attempt to create fear, confusion, and distrust in our beloved nation.” The Minister added, “President Dr. Ali is safe and in good health. We continue to pray for his well-being and commend his exceptional dedication to leading Guyana.”

The GCAA urges both the public and media representatives to seek information from reliable sources. We encourage everyone to be cautious about spreading unverified content that can undermine our society’s trust and harmony.

The GCAA is dedicated to maintaining the safety of our airspace and the reliability of information presented to the public. Let us unite in combating misinformation and fostering a culture of truthfulness.
