Guyana’s rich tapestry of cultural diversity, commitment to religious tolerance, and ongoing economic transformation were prominently featured at the 13th Conference of Culture Ministers in the Islamic World, which took place from February 12-13, 2025, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Guyanese delegation was led by the esteemed Islamic scholar and Director of the Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG), Shaikh Moeen ul-Hack. During the conference, he delivered a compelling statement that emphasized the nation’s vibrant multicultural identity and the progress being made under President Dr. Irfaan Ali’s “One Guyana†initiative.

In his speech, Shaikh Moeen characterized Guyana as a “kaleidoscope of cultures,†where individuals from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds coexist in harmony. He pointed out that this unique characteristic is being leveraged as a strength, promoting national unity and influencing the country’s socio-economic advancement. “Under His Excellency President Ali’s ‘One Guyana vision,’ the socio-economic landscape is undergoing a significant and transformative evolution,” he stated in a press release.

Furthermore, Moeen-ul-Hack highlighted the accomplishments across various sectors, including housing, sports, infrastructure, health, and education. He noted that these advancements have contributed to Guyana’s emergence as one of the fastest-growing economies globally. The scholar also emphasized that under President Ali’s dynamic and visionary leadership, Guyana stands as a model of cultural and religious tolerance.
