WIIN Participants Express Gratitude for Life-Changing Skills Development Opportunities

    Published on

Participants of the Women’s Innovation and Investment Network (WIIN) programme are expressing heartfelt gratitude for the transformative skills development opportunities that have empowered them to pursue brighter futures for themselves and their families.

The WIIN initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, continues to make a profound impact across Guyana by offering free training in a range of marketable skills—from garment construction and culinary arts to information technology and entrepreneurship. Hundreds of women, many from vulnerable or underserved communities, have graduated from the programme, gaining both technical know-how and the confidence to start their own businesses or secure meaningful employment.

At a recent graduation ceremony, several participants shared their personal journeys, highlighting how the WIIN programme has helped them overcome obstacles and unlock new possibilities. Many spoke of entering the programme with little to no prior experience, but leaving with valuable certifications and a renewed sense of purpose.

“I never thought I’d be able to run my own business,†said one graduate. “WIIN gave me the skills and the confidence to start my own catering service. Now, I can support my children and inspire other women in my community.â€

Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Dr. Vindhya Persaud, congratulated the graduates and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding the programme. She emphasized that WIIN is not just about skills training, but also about fostering independence, resilience, and economic empowerment for women across Guyana.

The success of the WIIN programme has resonated far beyond the classroom, creating ripple effects in local communities and contributing to national development. As more women continue to benefit from these life-changing opportunities, the hope is that WIIN will inspire a new generation of leaders, entrepreneurs, and change-makers throughout the country.
