    Published on

The third edition of the Tertiary Basketball League continues to deliver excitement, with defending champions Linden Technical Institute (LTI) and the University of Guyana (UG) Trojans both securing dominant victories in their latest outings at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

    UG Trojans Dominate GTI

The UG Trojans cruised to a commanding 72-16 win over the Government Technical Institute (GTI). Alafin Joseph led the charge with 19 points, six assists, and five rebounds. He received strong support from Chris Perez and Ronako Vaughn, who each added 15 points and eight steals, while Peter Langevine contributed a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds. GTI’s Yeeknahyah Yisrael was their top scorer with six points, but the team struggled to match UG’s pace and defensive intensity.

    LTI Continues Winning Streak

Linden Technical Institute, the reigning champions, also maintained their impressive form in the league. After a strong showing in the previous season, LTI’s latest win further cements their reputation as a powerhouse in tertiary basketball. Their disciplined play and depth of talent have made them favorites to defend their title as the league progresses.

    League Standings and Outlook

The Tertiary Basketball League III has seen spirited competition among Guyana’s top tertiary institutions, with UG and LTI emerging as early frontrunners. The tournament, organized by Youth Basketball Guyana, is providing a valuable platform for young athletes to showcase their skills and for schools to build their basketball programs.

With more matches ahead, fans can expect the action to intensify as teams battle for a spot in the playoffs and a shot at the championship. The performances of UG and LTI set a high standard, promising more thrilling encounters as the league unfolds.
