“Reject the Voices That Divide” – President Ali Urges Unity Ahead of Elections

    Published on

With national elections on the horizon, President Irfaan Ali has called on Guyanese citizens to stand united and reject divisive rhetoric, emphasizing the importance of national cohesion during this pivotal period.

In a televised address to the nation on Monday evening, President Ali urged voters to focus on shared values and collective progress, rather than succumbing to the voices that seek to sow discord along political, ethnic, or social lines.

“As we approach the upcoming elections, I implore every Guyanese to reject the voices that divide us,” President Ali stated. “Let us remember that our strength as a nation lies in our unity, our diversity, and our unwavering commitment to building a better future together.”

The President’s remarks come amid heightened political activity and public debate, with parties ramping up their campaigns and supporters taking to social media platforms. While acknowledging the vibrancy of Guyana’s democracy, President Ali cautioned against inflammatory language and misinformation, which he said could undermine peace and stability.

“We must not allow ourselves to be manipulated by those who profit from division,” Ali continued. “Our democracy thrives when we engage respectfully, listen to each other, and work together for the common good.”

He also highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections, promising that all citizens will have the opportunity to make their voices heard in a safe and secure environment.

Community leaders, civil society organizations, and religious groups have echoed the President’s call for unity, urging Guyanese to participate peacefully and responsibly in the electoral process.

As the campaign season intensifies, President Ali’s message serves as a timely reminder of the need for solidarity and mutual respect, reinforcing the idea that the nation’s future depends on the collective will of its people to rise above division and work towards a shared vision of progress.
