In a statement shared on social media, President Ali expressed confidence in Botchwey’s leadership, stating, “Under her stewardship, the Commonwealth will continue to be a beacon of unity, progress, and cooperation among its member states.†He reaffirmed Guyana’s commitment to working alongside her to advance shared goals and address pressing global challenges.

These include empowering women and youth with skills and opportunities, revitalizing trade and investment across member states, and mobilizing stronger action against climate change.
Botchwey emphasized the importance of unity during uncertain times, stating that the Commonwealth’s values—democracy, peace, human rights, and equal opportunity—are key to building a future of dignity and prosperity for all. Her vision includes modernizing the Commonwealth through smarter partnerships and ensuring no nation is left behind.
President Ali expressed optimism about continued collaboration within the Commonwealth under Botchwey’s leadership, highlighting Guyana’s readiness to contribute to initiatives that benefit all member nations. As Botchwey embarks on her historic tenure, she has pledged to uphold the values of the Commonwealth Charter and lead with purpose and courage.
