The spirit of togetherness was on full display as thousands gathered at Blue Lake in Region Ten for the highly anticipated ‘One Guyana’ Easter Fest, an event hailed as a resounding success by Minister of Public Works, Bishop Juan Edghill.

Minister Edghill commended the diverse turnout and the sense of unity that permeated the festival, emphasizing that the event was a testament to the government’s ongoing efforts to foster national cohesion. “I am extremely pleased that the PPP/C Government’s ‘One Guyana’ Easter Fest in Linden at the Blue Lake was a huge success. The turnout was phenomenal and the unity displayed by the community was inspiring,” Edghill said.

The festival, rooted in the Christian celebration of Easter but embraced as a national tradition, featured a variety of family-oriented activities. Children enjoyed games, kite-flying, and music, while cooking competitions and the distribution of kites added to the festive atmosphere. In the days leading up to the event, Minister Edghill and his team visited several communities, including Rockstone, Muritaro, Silver Town, Zar Playground, Christianburg, Andy Ville, and West Watooka, distributing kites and traditional Easter treats to hundreds of children.

Addressing residents, Edghill encouraged participation not only in the festival but also in the religious observances of Holy Week, underscoring the importance of both faith and community engagement. He reassured the public about safety concerns following a recent fire in Amelia’s Ward, affirming that there was no ongoing threat.

The ‘One Guyana’ Easter Fest in Linden stands as a vibrant example of the country’s commitment to unity, renewal, and shared celebration, reflecting the broader vision of a harmonious and inclusive Guyana.
