A new chapter has begun for Padmawattie Faikal, a single mother of four from Lima Sands, Region Two, after she received the keys to a brand-new home through the Ministry of Housing and Water’s Men on Mission (MOM) initiative.
The official handover took place on Saturday, with government officials and community members in attendance to celebrate the milestone. The MOM initiative, which aims to support vulnerable families and uplift communities across Guyana, has been lauded for transforming lives and providing hope to those in need.
For Faikal, the new house represents more than just shelter — it is a symbol of resilience, community spirit, and a brighter future for her children. “This home means everything to me and my family. It gives us security and a fresh start,†she said, expressing gratitude to the MOM team and all those who contributed to the project.
The initiative is part of a broader government effort to address housing challenges and improve living standards for disadvantaged citizens. Local leaders praised the program’s impact, noting that it not only provides physical homes but also restores dignity and inspires confidence among recipients.
As the MOM initiative continues to expand, more families in communities like Lima Sands are expected to benefit, reinforcing the government’s commitment to social welfare and inclusive development.
