Former People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) executive Thandi McAllister has delivered a passionate appeal to Guyana’s youth, asserting that the nation’s best interest is served by re-electing the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) government led by President Dr. Irfaan Ali in the upcoming September 1, 2025 elections.
During an appearance on the Starting Point podcast, McAllister—who was among the first prominent figures to switch allegiance from the PNCR to the PPP/C—cited the unprecedented development and transformation witnessed across Guyana under President Ali’s leadership. “A vote in Guyana’s best interest is a vote for the PPP, and to re-elect Irfaan Ali as the President,” she declared. “We have witnessed how, with that same passion he outlines his plans, he has brought to fruition the plans he outlined previously. His work speaks for itself… This country is moving apace and I am happy that he has been able to steer this ship right.”
McAllister, a veteran politician with over 20 years’ experience, lamented the lack of youth inclusion and support during her time with the PNCR, describing it as a “heartbreaking experience” to see young people sidelined. She encouraged young Guyanese to be honest with themselves and recognize the strides made under the current administration, highlighting President Ali’s hands-on approach and the active engagement of his Cabinet with citizens—a stark contrast, she noted, to the previous government’s style.
In other public remarks, McAllister has consistently praised President Ali as a “man of the people, by the people, and for the people,” urging voters to “stay the course” with his leadership for continued progress and development3. She emphasized that the upcoming elections are pivotal for Guyana’s future, and called on the youth of Region Three—where she once chaired the PNCR’s regional arm—to cast their votes for continued growth and opportunity.
McAllister’s endorsement is part of a broader wave of support for the PPP/C from former opposition figures, as the party gains momentum ahead of the 2025 polls. Her message to young Guyanese is clear: the path to a brighter future lies in re-electing President Ali and the PPP/C government.
