At the recently concluded Guyana Energy Conference and Supply Chain Expo 2025, Guyana’s Finance Minister Dr. Ashni Singh made a compelling case for investment in the country, highlighting its rapid economic growth and strategic advantages.

Key points from Dr. Singh’s address:

    1. Economic Growth: Guyana is currently the fastest-growing economy in the world.
    2. Strategic Location: The country is well-connected to Brazil, adjacent to Suriname, and serves as the capital of CARICOM.
    3. Trade Advantages: Investors gain access to extensive economic space and free trade agreements with important global partners.
    4. Diverse Opportunities: Every sector in Guyana’s expanding economy offers investment potential, from agriculture and forestry to tourism and energy.
    5. Local Content Act: Introduced in 2021, this legislation ensures local participation in the oil and gas sector, creating opportunities for partnerships with Guyanese businesses.
    6. Business Creation: Over US$1.5 billion in business opportunities have been generated for Guyanese companies since the Act’s implementation.
    7. Partnership Incentives: The Local Content Act provides strong incentives for foreign companies to partner with local businesses, with 40 service areas carved out for Guyanese participation.

Dr. Singh emphasized that Guyana’s demand for products and services spans all industries, making it an attractive destination for diverse investments. He urged global businesses to seize the opportunities available across multiple sectors in the country’s rapidly growing economy.

The minister’s message was clear: Guyana is open for business and offers a wealth of opportunities for investors looking to capitalize on its economic boom and strategic position in the region.
