ExxonMobil has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with Guyana in developing a robust market for natural gas, signaling a new chapter in the country’s energy landscape. This pledge comes as part of the company’s broader strategy to expand its natural gas operations in the South American nation.
At the heart of this initiative is the “Wales Gas Vision” project, unveiled by ExxonMobil’s Guyana head, Alistair Routledge, at the recent Guyana Energy Conference. The project aims to leverage a $1 billion pipeline completed in 2024 to supply gas for various petrochemical and power projects.
Key aspects of ExxonMobil’s gas development plans include:
- Increased gas production: The company plans to ramp up gas output, particularly through projects like Longtail, which could yield up to 1.2 billion cubic feet per day of gas.
- Diversified utilization: The gas will be used for power generation, natural gas liquids production, and manufacturing of fertilizers and alumina.
