    Educator Arrested for Suspected Child Sexual Offense in Guyana

    A 25-year-old educator from Bartica, Dahlerus Courtman, has been remanded to prison following serious allegations involving inappropriate conduct with a minor student. Courtman, who resides on Three Miles Potaro Road, made his appearance at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Teriq Mohammed on February 7, 2025.

    He faces charges of Sexual Activity with a Child by Abusing a Position of Trust, which arose from an investigation initiated after his arrest at the Bartica Police Station on February 5, 2025. During the court session, Courtman was not required to enter a plea. Magistrate Mohammed has ordered that he remain in custody until the next court date, scheduled for March 7, 2025, when the proceedings will continue.

    As the legal process unfolds, Courtman will remain in custody.
