A tragic incident unfolded in Trinidad when a 33-year-old farmer, Javed Omardeen, was fatally shot while sitting in his car outside his home in Gomez Trace, Paria. The shooting occurred on Friday evening, around 6:15 PM, as Omardeen was parked in his driveway. Residents reported hearing gunshots, prompting them to contact the police.
Upon arrival, officers from the Blanchisseuse Police Station and the North Eastern Division, accompanied by a district medical officer, found Omardeen deceased in his white Honda Civic. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the left side of his chest.
Omardeen was a prominent figure in the local agricultural community, known for his work on a cocoa estate and his involvement with Omarbeans Organic, a renowned “bean-to-bar” chocolate company.
