The fatal accident occurred on Sunday evening, March 2, 2025, at approximately 6:30 PM on the Line Path Public Road in Corentyne, Berbice. The victims, 17-year-old Tushan Surujnarine, 19-year-old Kavita Bedsan, and their infant daughter, Eli Surujnarine, were traveling on an electric bicycle when they were struck from behind by a white Toyota Fielder wagon.
The impact of the collision caused all three family members to be thrown onto the roadway. Eyewitnesses report that the driver of the car fled the scene immediately after the accident, leaving the injured family without assistance.
Emergency services rushed the victims to Skeldon Hospital in an unconscious state. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were subsequently transferred to New Amsterdam Public Hospital and later to Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) for more advanced care. Tragically, young Eli succumbed to her injuries during transport to GPHC on Monday morning, March 3, at approximately 9:45 AM.
