Marlon Jones, a 38-year-old taxi driver from Lot 106 Third Avenue, Bartica, has been formally charged with receiving stolen articles, following his arrest by police earlier this week.

Jones was apprehended on June 15, 2025, after investigations linked him to items reported stolen from Chinese national Jianmei Qiu. The charge, filed under Section 237(1) of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01, alleges that Jones knowingly received property that had been unlawfully taken.
Court Appearance
The accused appeared before Magistrate Teriq Mohammed at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read. Jones pleaded not guilty to the offence.

Jones was granted bail in the sum of $80,000. The case has been adjourned and is set to continue on July 21, 2025.
