Police have launched a manhunt for a 24-year-old security guard accused of orchestrating a daring $13.1 million armed robbery at the Fantasy Game Lounge, located in the Giftland Mall, Turkeyen, early Sunday morning.
The suspect, identified as Rakameem Benowen Nicholas of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was on duty and armed with a service-issued 9mm pistol and 17 rounds of ammunition at the time of the incident. According to investigators, the robbery unfolded around 5:30 am, when the lounge was closed to patrons and only staff were present.
Preliminary reports indicate that supervisor Raywat Sankar, 21, had stepped out of the cashier area to assist a 27-year-old female floor supervisor with cleaning. Seizing the opportunity, Nicholas allegedly approached the pair, brandished his firearm, and discharged a round into the air before ordering Sankar to open the electronic door to the cashier’s room.
Both staff members were then forced into the cashier’s room, where Nicholas reportedly instructed Sankar to open the vault and place all the cash—belonging to business owner Sylvia Thomas—into a garbage basket. The suspect then exited the premises with the money.
Surveillance footage captured Nicholas leaving the mall, proceeding west along the Railway Embankment, and entering a waiting motorcar, license plate PZZ 5690, which sped off in a western direction.
Police responding to the scene recovered a spent 9mm shell. A search of Nicholas’s residence yielded no trace of the stolen cash, and efforts to locate both the suspect and the getaway vehicle are ongoing. Authorities have since issued a wanted bulletin for Nicholas, urging anyone with information to come forward.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the Giftland Mall community, raising concerns about security protocols and the vetting of personnel assigned to sensitive posts. The investigation remains active as detectives pursue all available leads.
