A robbery suspect was shot and killed by police on Monday evening during a dramatic confrontation at the GST Chinese Supermarket, located at the intersection of Aubrey Barker Road and Blue Sakie Drive in Guyana.

According to the Guyana Police Force, officers responded swiftly to reports of an armed robbery in progress at the busy supermarket. Upon arrival, police encountered an active crime scene where security guard Shevon Yearwood had already sustained a gunshot wound to her left shoulder. She was promptly attended to by emergency services.

Inside the supermarket, police confronted the suspects. During the ensuing standoff, one of the alleged perpetrators, identified as Cordell Eastman, was fatally shot by law enforcement officers. A 9MM Glock pistol was recovered at the scene, believed to have been used during the attempted robbery.

Police remain on the ground as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities have pledged to provide further updates as more information becomes available.

The incident has raised concerns among local residents about the recent spate of armed robberies targeting businesses in the area. Community members have called for increased police presence and enhanced security measures to safeguard both workers and shoppers.

As the investigation unfolds, the GST Chinese Supermarket has temporarily closed its doors to allow for forensic examination and to ensure the safety of its staff and customers.
