    Queenstown Man Jailed for a Month for Assaulting Wife

    A Queenstown man has been sentenced to one month in prison after pleading guilty to assaulting his 17-year-old wife. The incident occurred on March 9 at their residence on Church Street, Queenstown, Essequibo Coast. The man, identified as Kevin Roberts, a 32-year-old laborer, was charged under Section 21 of the Summary Jurisdiction Offences Act, Chapter 8:02.

    Roberts appeared before Magistrate Tamieka Clarke at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court, where he admitted to the offense. The court’s decision reflects the seriousness with which domestic violence is treated in the region, emphasizing the need for accountability and justice in such cases.

    This case highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement and judicial systems to address domestic violence, which remains a significant concern globally. The sentencing serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting victims and ensuring that perpetrators face legal consequences for their actions.
