Protests Leave Trail of Burnt Vehicles and Debris at Belladrum

    Published on

The village of Belladrum was left reeling after Monday night’s protests, which erupted following the release of autopsy results for 11-year-old Adriana Younge. The unrest saw vehicles set ablaze, tyres burnt, and significant debris scattered across the main road, disrupting traffic and daily life in the area.

According to eyewitnesses, the remnants of two vehicles-a truck and a motor car-were used to form a blockade at the Belladrum-Paradise crossing. The charred shells of these vehicles, along with piles of burnt tyres and other debris, obstructed the roadway until restoration efforts began around midday on Tuesday. Public-spirited citizens, aided by a tractor and an excavator, worked alongside police to clear the area and restore normalcy.

Law enforcement maintained a visible presence throughout the cleanup to ensure the process proceeded without further incident. The police have since issued a stern warning, stating that all available evidence, including video footage and images, is under review. Individuals found to be involved in criminal acts during the protests face prosecution and may be placed on a no-flight list, with their details shared with regional and international agencies.

The protests in Belladrum were part of a wider wave of unrest that swept across several regions, triggered by public outrage over the circumstances surrounding Adriana Younge’s death. The authorities continue to appeal for calm as investigations proceed and efforts to restore order continue.
