A post-mortem examination has confirmed that Jenny Mohammed, the Non Pariel woman whose murder shocked the East Coast Demerara community, died from shock and haemorrhage due to multiple stab wounds and compression injuries to her neck.
The autopsy, conducted by government pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh and witnessed by Detective Assistant Superintendent Pitama at the Memorial Gardens Mortuary, revealed that the 46-year-old suffered numerous incised wounds across her body, compounded by strangulation. The findings were consistent with the violent circumstances under which her body was discovered last week.
Mohammed had been reported missing by relatives on June 11. Police investigations led to the arrest of her daughter and son-in-law, who reportedly confessed to planning and executing the murder, citing alleged abuse as their motive. The suspects told investigators they killed Mohammed at her Non Pariel home on June 10, then wrapped her body in a tarpaulin and garbage bag before dumping it at Eccles New Road.
When police visited the crime scene, they found evidence of blood and later recovered the suspected murder weapon—a knife. The body, discovered with a rope tied around the neck and bearing multiple stab wounds, was identified by Mohammed’s brother-in-law.
The case remains under active investigation as the suspects await formal charges. The community continues to grapple with the brutality of the crime, as authorities urge anyone with additional information to come forward.
