    Published on

Charity, Essequibo Coast â€“ The Charity community is mourning the loss of 30-year-old Troy Singh, who died following a collision with a lorry on the Charity Public Road on Monday afternoon.

The accident unfolded around 2:25 p.m. as Singh was riding his motorcycle (CM 6673) eastbound at a reportedly high speed. At the same time, a 47-year-old lorry driver from the Charity Housing Scheme was heading west and attempted to make a right turn. According to police, the lorry driver noticed Singh approaching rapidly but was unable to avoid the collision. Singh lost control, skidded, and crashed directly into the front of the lorry.

The impact left Singh unconscious and severely injured. The lorry driver immediately transported him to the Charity Cottage Public Hospital, where medical staff worked to treat his head injuries and multiple lacerations. Despite their efforts, Singh was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The driver of the lorry has been detained and is assisting police with their investigation. The incident has reignited calls for greater caution on the roads, especially among motorcyclists, and has left the Charity community in shock.
