    Published on

A Venezuelan woman, Miguelys Centeno, who disappeared on February 21, 2025, is feared dead, sparking a major investigation in Guyana. Centeno, who worked at a bar in Eccles, East Bank Demerara, was last seen hitchhiking with a Brazilian man identified as Fernando Teles Pereira at Diamond, East Bank Demerara. Despite not knowing Pereira, she had asked him for a ride home after finishing her late shift.

    Investigation and Suspect

Police have issued a wanted bulletin for Pereira, who is believed to be connected to Centeno’s disappearance. His last known addresses are in Brazil or Guyana. Authorities are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact them immediately.

    Skeletal Remains Found

Recently, skeletal remains were discovered on the Mabura Trail in Region Ten. The police are conducting DNA tests to determine if these remains belong to Centeno. The Crime Chief has indicated that the remains are suspected to be those of the missing woman.

    Background and Concerns

Centeno lived in Timehri but often slept at Diamond for safety after late shifts. Her friends reported that she had no prior acquaintance with Pereira, adding to the mystery surrounding her disappearance.

The case has raised concerns about safety and the need for vigilance, especially for individuals who rely on hitchhiking for transportation. As investigations continue, family members and friends are bracing for the worst outcome.

The police are working diligently to resolve the case, with a focus on locating Pereira and confirming the identity of the skeletal remains. The community remains on high alert, awaiting updates on the investigation’s progress.
