A 20-year-old labourer, Kenroy Bradford, known as “Kelly,” tragically lost his life following a violent altercation at Five Corner, Mackenzie, Linden. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Friday morning, has left the community in shock as police continue their investigation.
Reports indicate that Bradford was socializing with friends Andrew Jacobs and Anthony Jacobs at a local establishment, Blazing Shop, when tensions flared. The trouble began when Anthony approached a 29-year-old female bartender who was accompanied by Cyrus Jacobis and several others. An argument broke out after Jacobis reportedly pushed Anthony away, prompting both groups to relocate to the parapet of Five Corner.
The confrontation escalated into a brawl when bottles were allegedly thrown between the two groups. Amid the chaos, Jacobis is accused of wielding a knife and stabbing Anthony in the abdomen. While Andrew attempted to intervene and pull his brother to safety, he sustained a cut to his finger. During the melee, Bradford was fatally stabbed.
After the fight subsided, Anthony was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex in critical condition. Meanwhile, Bradford was found motionless near a parked car and pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. His body is currently at J.Jetsco Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Police swiftly apprehended Jacobis, whose clothes were reportedly stained with blood. He was treated for injuries before being taken into custody along with two other individuals believed to be connected to the incident. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events leading to Bradford’s death.
This tragic incident has reignited concerns about alcohol-fueled violence and its devastating impact on young lives in the community.
