    Labourer gets $100k bail on sexual assault charge

    A 39-year-old labourer of La Belle Alliance, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) has been granted $100,000 bail after being charged with sexual assault.

    Jaichan Castello was charged with the offence in relation to an incident which occurred on October 14, 2025 at Westbury Back Dam, Essequibo Coast.

    The accused appeared at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday where the charge was read to him, and he pleaded not guilty.

    Bail was granted bail in the sum of $100,000, on the condition that he stay away from the victim and have no contact with her pending the trial.

    The case adjourned for Wednesday, February 24, 2026.
