Freeman Street Man Before Court on Attempted Murder Charge

    Published on

A Freeman Street resident appeared before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court last week, charged with attempted murder following a violent altercation that left one man wounded.

Sean Dos Santos, 27, of Lot 238 Freeman Street, East La Penitence, was brought before Acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty to answer to the charge. Prosecutors allege that on March 13, 2025, Dos Santos unlawfully and maliciously wounded Seon Archibald with intent to murder him. The incident reportedly stemmed from a dispute over a missing phone, escalating to the point where Dos Santos allegedly fired several shots at Archibald and his family, resulting in Archibald being shot in the leg.

Dos Santos, who was previously acquitted in a high-profile murder trial, was not required to plead to the charge. His attorney, Kiswana Jefford, told the court that her client voluntarily surrendered to police upon learning he was wanted and argued that Dos Santos could easily be located if needed for further proceedings.

The prosecution objected to bail, citing the proximity of the accused and the victim, and raised concerns about the likelihood of Dos Santos reoffending, referencing his prior murder charge in 2017. Magistrate McGusty remanded Dos Santos to prison, and the matter was adjourned until May 21, 2025, as investigations continue.

The case has reignited concerns about gun violence and community safety in the Freeman Street area, with residents and local leaders calling for increased police presence and conflict resolution initiatives to prevent future incidents.
