As the family of 11-year-old Adriana Younge prepares to lay her to rest on Monday, they are making a heartfelt appeal for peace and respect during her final farewell. Adriana, whose body was found in the pool of the Double Day Hotel at Tuschen on April 24, will be buried following a funeral service at the Vergenoegen Rice Mill Tarmac, with burial at the Vergenoegen Cemetery. The procession will begin with a stop at her former home.
In recent days, the family has learned of plans by some individuals to protest at the funeral and attempt to halt the burial until a second post-mortem is conducted. Adriana’s aunt, Amika Lewis, publicly urged all those considering such actions to honor the family’s wishes and allow a peaceful, undisturbed sendoff. “Honour Adriana and the wishes of her family. NO PROTESTS!” she stated, emphasizing that the family does not support any disruption or protest at the funeral.
The call for calm comes after weeks of public outcry and protest over the circumstances of Adriana’s death, which led to widespread demonstrations and the destruction of the hotel where she was found. While a post-mortem conducted by three international pathologists concluded that Adriana died by drowning and found no evidence of physical or sexual trauma, some community members have continued to demand further investigation.
Despite earlier consideration of a second autopsy, the family has decided to proceed with the burial and begin their journey toward closure. They are urging the public to respect their decision, refrain from protests, and allow them to grieve in peace as they say their final goodbye to Adriana Younge on Monday.
