The Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) has launched a manhunt for a well-known farm worker suspected of being involved in a major drug trafficking operation in the Corentyne area.
The investigation intensified after CANU officers, acting on intelligence, conducted a raid at a residence located at Bakershop Dam, #75 Village, Corentyne, Berbice. During the operation, authorities uncovered a significant quantity of cannabis, weighing approximately 100 kilograms, hidden on the premises. Two individuals were taken into custody at the scene and are currently assisting investigators with their inquiries.
However, CANU has identified a third suspect, known locally as a “farm man,” who managed to evade capture during the raid. The agency has since issued a public appeal for information on his whereabouts, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in dismantling drug trafficking networks.
This latest operation forms part of CANU’s broader crackdown on narcotics trafficking across the country, with recent months seeing a series of high-profile arrests and drug seizures. The agency remains committed to pursuing all leads and bringing those involved in the illegal drug trade to justice.
Residents in the Corentyne area are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity that may assist in locating the wanted individual. CANU has reiterated its dedication to maintaining the integrity of Guyana’s borders and protecting communities from the dangers posed by narcotics trafficking.
