    Businessman in Custody After Fatal Shooting of Wife in Diamond

    A tragic incident of domestic violence has shaken the community of Diamond, East Bank Demerara, as 27-year-old Kenesha Marie Juman Vaughn was fatally shot by her husband on Saturday, February 24, 2025.

    The Incident

    • Kenesha Vaughn was shot at least 12 times at her home in Lot 1179 Section ‘A’ Block ‘X’ Diamond Housing Scheme.
    • The suspect, identified as Marlon DaSilva, a 32-year-old businessman, is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
    • The shooting occurred around 8:00 PM following a heated argument between the couple.

    Details of the Altercation

    According to police reports:

    • DaSilva arrived home intoxicated after drinking at a popular establishment on Main Street.
    • An argument ensued, during which DaSilva allegedly slapped Vaughn.
    • Vaughn reportedly grabbed a knife in retaliation.
    • DaSilva, a licensed firearm holder, then pulled out his CZ semi-automatic pistol and fired multiple shots at Vaughn.

    Aftermath and Investigation

    • Police were called to the scene and rushed Vaughn to the Diamond Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment.
    • Twelve gunshot wounds were identified on Vaughn’s body during examination.
    • Four 9mm cases and three suspected projectiles were recovered from the crime scene.
    • A breathalyzer test conducted on DaSilva revealed his blood alcohol content was 83%, significantly above the legal limit of 35%.

    Background

    • The couple had been in a relationship for four years and had a three-year-old son together.
    • They had been living at the Diamond address for the past year.

    This incident has sparked outrage and renewed calls for action against domestic violence in Guyana. As investigations continue, the community mourns the loss of a young mother and seeks justice for Kenesha Vaughn.
