Agricola Man Denied Bail After Allegedly Firing Shots in Wake of Brother’s Killing

    Published on

A tense feud between two families in Agricola, Greater Georgetown, erupted into further violence this week, culminating in the court appearance of Keon Narine, a 23-year-old electrician, who stands accused of discharging a loaded firearm and illegal possession of both a firearm and ammunition. Narine, who pleaded not guilty to all charges, was denied bail during his appearance before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.

The charges stem from a dramatic sequence of events that began on Monday, June 9, when Narine’s older brother, 28-year-old construction worker Nicklous Narine, was gunned down while cleaning a drain in Agricola. Police have identified Raphael Bollers, 27, as the suspect in the killing and have issued a bulletin for his arrest. The shooting, which occurred around 8:15 a.m. on Titus Street, left Nicklous with multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to the New Diamond Regional Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

According to police reports, hours after the fatal shooting, Keon Narine allegedly rode a motorcycle to the home of Gideon Bollers—the father of the man suspected in his brother’s murder—on Brutus Street. There, he is accused of firing several rounds at the property before fleeing the scene. Police later apprehended Keon at his residence, where a search uncovered an AR-15 rifle and a magazine containing five live rounds of 5.56mm ammunition. Eighteen spent shells were recovered at the scene of the shooting on Brutus Street.

During police questioning, Keon Narine reportedly admitted to firing at the Bollers’ residence, stating that his actions were in retaliation for his brother’s death and that the firearm belonged to his deceased sibling.

The Narine family, still reeling from Nicklous’ death, has voiced frustration with law enforcement, alleging that their repeated reports of threats and earlier attacks were ignored by authorities. Family members described a climate of fear and ongoing intimidation, with claims that the suspect and his associates had previously targeted their homes in a series of violent incidents.

Barry Narine, the father of the slain man, expressed his anguish and anger in an emotional interview, questioning why the police had failed to act on prior warnings. “He jumped the fence and stayed in a house to wait for my son. Now he is walking. The same one who shot my son,” Barry said, highlighting what he believes is a pattern of inaction and bias within the community.

The tragedy has also shed light on broader concerns about community safety and the effectiveness of police response in Agricola. The victim’s aunt recounted a previous shooting incident involving her teenage son, which she believes is linked to the same feud and similarly went unaddressed by authorities.

As the investigation continues, the suspect in Nicklous Narine’s murder remains at large. Meanwhile, Keon Narine awaits his next court date, facing serious charges as the community grapples with the aftermath of a deadly cycle of violence and the unresolved grievances that fueled it.
