    $250M ganja farms in Berbice River destroyed

    See full statement from the Guyana Police Force:

    Two gazetted officers, along with ranks from the Narcotics Branch and Regional Division # 6 on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, conducted a joint eradication exercise at Maria Henrietta, Zion, and Kimbia, all located in the Upper Berbice River area.

    During the extensive operation, ranks discovered five (5) cannabis farms covering a total of approximately twenty (20) acres, containing an estimated 160,800 cannabis plants, ranging between two (2) and six (6) feet in height.

    Additionally, three (3) makeshift camps and five (5) drying areas were found, which contained approximately 460 pounds of dried cannabis. All the cannabis plants, dried cannabis and camps were destroyed by fire under police supervision.

    The estimated street value of the destroyed narcotics is over $250 million Guyana dollars. The exercise was completed without any incident.

    Investigations are continuing.
