‘A Joyful People Must Be a Responsible People’ – President Ali’s Easter Message

    Published on

President Dr. Irfaan Ali, in his Easter message to the nation, called on Guyanese to embrace the true spirit of the season by coupling joy with responsibility. Addressing citizens from all walks of life, President Ali underscored that while Easter is a time of happiness, celebration, and togetherness, it also serves as a reminder of the duty each person holds toward their community and country.

He reflected on the core message of Easter, highlighting the hope and happiness that the resurrection of Christ brings to Christians and the wider Guyanese society. President Ali noted that Easter’s traditions—such as kite flying, family gatherings, and community festivities—are cherished expressions of national unity and the enduring warmth of Guyanese culture.

However, the President emphasized that the joy of Easter must be matched by a sense of responsibility. He urged Guyanese to be mindful of their actions, especially during the holiday’s many celebrations, and to look out for those who may be facing difficult circumstances. “Let us also be mindful of our brothers and sisters, especially those who may be experiencing difficult circumstances. Let us be the shoulder upon which they can rest their cares; the arms that embrace them in love; the hand that reaches out to support them; and the smile that reminds all that life’s joys and gifts are always meant to be shared,” he advised.

President Ali encouraged citizens to renew their commitment to each other, to their communities, and to the values that strengthen the nation—justice, peace, tolerance, faith, and hope. He reminded the nation that the legacy left behind should be one that inspires future generations.

As families gather and communities celebrate, President Ali’s message is a call for Guyanese to balance their exuberance with compassion, safety, and a deep sense of civic duty, ensuring that the joy of Easter uplifts not just individuals, but the entire nation.
