Unbeaten Barbados Clinch Rising Stars Under-15 Title with Commanding Win Over Guyana

Barbados delivered a flawless campaign to retain their West Indies Rising Stars Under-15 Championship crown, sealing the title with a decisive 50-run victory over Guyana in the final round at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.

Entering the top-of-the-table clash unbeaten, Barbados faced early pressure after winning the toss and opting to bat. The defending champions lost four wickets for just 70 runs, but a composed 47 from wicketkeeper Seth Smith and a crucial 38 from captain Justin Parris stabilized the innings. Smith, in partnership with Rajeev Parsooram (21), built a vital 61-run stand for the fifth wicket, helping Barbados post a competitive total of 209 for 8 in their allotted 50 overs. Guyana’s Reyaz Latif was the standout bowler, claiming 3 for 31.

In response, Guyana’s chase faltered under disciplined Barbadian bowling. The top order struggled, slipping to 35 for three before Nathaniel Ramsammy (32) and Lomar Seecharan (20) offered brief resistance. Barbados’ bowlers, led by Asher Branford (3 for 19), Joshua Thompson (2 for 35), Rajeev Parsooram (2 for 19), and captain Justin Parris (2 for 25), kept the pressure on. Brandon Henry’s determined 50 provided hope for Guyana, but once he fell, the innings unraveled quickly, and Guyana were bowled out for 160 in 45.3 overs.

The victory capped a perfect tournament for Barbados, who finished with five wins from five matches and a commanding 27.4 points—well ahead of second-placed Trinidad and Tobago (19.4 points) and third-placed Guyana (18.6 points). The result underscores Barbados’ dominance at the youth level, marking their second consecutive unbeaten campaign in the competition.

As the dust settles on this year’s Rising Stars Under-15 Championship, Barbados’ blend of resilience and talent has once again set the standard for regional youth cricket, while Guyana and other teams will look to regroup and challenge for the title in future editions.
