Trinidad Cement Limited (TCL) and its CEMEX brand recently presented the trophies for the Mashramani Street Football Championships, which are set to conclude this Saturday night at the National Park.
In a photo opportunity, TCL Guyana Logistics and Supply Chain Manager Juan Fernando Cuellar Castro, along with SMI’s Edison Jefford and TCL Guyana Logistics and Supply Chain Director Juan Guillermo Bernal Izasa, showcased the trophies that will be awarded during the event.
TCL Guyana Limited sponsored the championship trophies, with Castro emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in fostering stronger communities. “Our goal is to contribute to a better Guyana through activities that promote community development,†he stated, highlighting the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility. Castro also hinted at more initiatives to come from TCL in the future.
The sponsorship was facilitated by Commercial Coordinator Chenel Bovell-Drakes-Robinson. Castro underscored the significance of developing a healthy environment, noting that “health and safety is paramount†and can only be achieved through collaboration with stakeholders.
He praised Sports Management Inc (SMI), the organizers of the Mashramani Street Football Championships, for providing TCL with the opportunity to engage in this community-focused initiative. SMI principal Edison Jefford expressed gratitude for TCL’s support and specifically acknowledged Bovell-Drakes-Robinson for her contributions to making the event a success.
The Mashramani Street Football Championships will conclude with a grand final, where the winning team will receive $500,000. The second and third places will earn $300,000 and $200,000, respectively, while the fourth-place team will take home $100,000. The tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) will be awarded $50,000 along with a trophy.
Additionally, a Plate Play-offs will feature the four losing quarter-finalists and the top two teams from the Super-16 round, vying for a total of $100,000, with the top three teams in this segment also receiving one case of Magnum Tonic Wine.
