Kemol Savory and Quentin Sampson, two prominent cricketers and serving members of the Guyana Police Force, have received a significant morale boost ahead of the inaugural West Indies Breakout T20 League. The Guyana Police Force (GPF) presented the duo with brand-new cricket kits as a gesture of support before they travel to Trinidad and Tobago for the tournament, which runs from April 25th to May 10th.
The presentation took place in the presence of Deputy Commissioner of Police Administration, Ravindradat Budhram, who also serves as Chairman of the Guyana Police Force Cricket. National Coach Ryan Hercules, a veteran with more than 15 years of experience and a key architect of Guyana’s recent regional cricket successes, was also in attendance to offer encouragement and guidance.
Savory and Sampson, both long-standing representatives of the GPF cricket team, will feature for the Guyana Rainforest Rangers squad in the upcoming league. Coach Hercules urged the players to stay focused and disciplined, reminding them that this opportunity marks just the beginning of greater achievements.
“This is a significant opportunity, but it’s also just the beginning for you both,†Hercules advised. “Stay focused, maintain your discipline, and never forget the hard work that has brought you to this stage. Represent the Police Force and your country with pride, and use every match as a chance to develop, both as cricketers and as individuals.â€
Deputy Commissioner Budhram echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the responsibility Savory and Sampson carry as ambassadors for both the Police Force and Guyana. “Your conduct, both on and off the field, should always reflect the values we uphold,†Budhram stated, wishing the pair success in the tournament.
The kit presentation underscores the Police Force’s commitment to supporting its athletes and fostering excellence both in service and on the sporting field, as Savory and Sampson prepare to represent Guyana on the regional stage.
